DYNAMICS OF ROLLER CONE AND PDC BITS UNDER KINEMATIC CHANGES
Abstract
This study investigates the dynamic response of roller cone and PDC bits under kinematic variations during drilling, including the effects of rotational speed, weight on bit, and cutter structure on vibrations and torsional oscillations. Experimental tests and finite element modeling were used to analyze the drill string–bit–rock system dynamics. Results demonstrate differences in bit behavior under changing drilling conditions and confirm that kinematic changes significantly affect rock-breaking efficiency and tool lifespan. The findings enhance understanding of vibration mechanisms and support the optimization of drilling parameters.
