THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS OF THE TERMINOLOGICAL SYSTEM AS AN OBJECT OF RESEARCH IN LINGUISTICS

Abstract

This article examines the theoretical foundations of the terminological system in linguistics and its significance as an object of research. A terminological system is defined as a set of linguistic units expressing specialized concepts related to a particular science, profession, or field of activity. The study analyzes the structural, semantic, functional, and sociolinguistic features of terminological units. In addition, sports terminology is considered as an active layer of the modern terminological system. The results show that the terminological system occupies an important place in language development, scientific thinking, and professional communication.
