IMPROVING THE METHODOLOGY FOR DEVELOPING THE COGNITIVE COMPETENCIES OF PROSPECTIVE ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHERS BASED ON DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES
Abstract
In the context of rapid digital transformation in education, the development of cognitive competencies among prospective English language teachers has become a priority in modern pedagogical research. This study focuses on improving methodological approaches to fostering cognitive skills through the integration of digital technologies in teacher education. Cognitive competencies, including critical thinking, problem-solving, information processing, and reflective learning, are essential for effective language teaching in contemporary classrooms. The paper examines the theoretical foundations of cognitive development and explores practical strategies for embedding digital tools such as learning management systems, multimedia resources, and interactive platforms into the teaching process. The research adopts a mixed-method approach, combining qualitative analysis of pedagogical practices with quantitative evaluation of student performance. The findings indicate that the purposeful use of digital technologies significantly enhances learners’ cognitive engagement, autonomy, and professional readiness. The study also proposes a refined methodological framework aimed at aligning digital tools with cognitive learning objectives in English language teacher training programs.
