Abstract

This article, using a sociological approach, analyzes customs and rituals associated with the traditional livelihoods of the Karakalpak people. Specifically, it highlights rituals that developed in the areas of livestock farming, agriculture, and fishing, their social functions, and contemporary transformation processes. According to the study's findings, these rituals are important not only for regulating economic activity but also for strengthening social cohesion. The results of a sociological survey conducted by the author indicate that some of these traditions have been preserved to this day.
