PSYCHOLOGICAL BARRIERS IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE LEARNING AMONG UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
Abstract
This article examines the psychological barriers faced by university students in the process of learning a foreign language, with particular reference to Uzbek students. The study analyzes key psychological factors such as motivation, foreign language anxiety, lack of self-confidence, fear of making mistakes, and emotional constraints that negatively affect language acquisition. An empirical approach was employed using questionnaires and classroom observation to identify the main psychological obstacles experienced by students. The findings indicate that psychological barriers significantly influence students’ communicative performance and overall language learning success. The results of the study highlight the importance of creating a supportive psychological learning environment and developing learner-centered teaching strategies to enhance students’ motivation and communicative competence in foreign language education.
