Abstract

This article discusses the role of the mint (Mentha) plant in folk medicine, its healing properties and areas of application in traditional medicine. The chemical composition of mint, rich in biologically active substances, in particular the effect of essential oils and menthol on the body, is analyzed. Experiences in using mint in folk medicine for gastrointestinal diseases, colds, nervous system disorders, headaches and normalization of heart function are presented. Special attention is also paid to the methods of preparing mint tincture and tea and precautions for use. The article scientifically and practically substantiates the importance of the mint plant in folk medicine.
